One World, Moscow, ID

With each ring of the answering machine, I watched my dreams of going to a coffee shop start to slip farther and farther away.  With no call back in sight, we decided to cut our losses and switch up our plan.

With all intentions to go to one coffeeshop, my twin and I ended up at another. Have you ever wanted one thing but received another that ended up being better? That is how I felt as Kayla and I stared down the large, mismatched mugs at One World in Moscow, ID. Kayla and I both had almond milk lattes with sugar free hazelnut and caramel (we are off sugar for the time being, woo health).

I do not know about you, but I love coffee in mugs. There is something about when that cup of joe is topped with foam in a nice mug that warms one’s hands, heart and, I dare to say, soul. We nestled ourselves in as we sipped. Kayla and I brainstormed for her med school interviews and specifically focused on the questions: what do you want them [the audience] to be left with? What is your elevator pitch? Our brainstorming led us to the Gallup Clifton Strengthsfinder (make sure to buy it with a student discount if you can) and questions like: what makes you unique? What makes you similar to people around the globe? What are your core values? Feel free to comment below your thoughts to these questions, and we would be interested to hear your strengths. Kayla and I have three in common: achiever, learner and input. To this, Kayla adds intellectual and futurist. I also bring discipline and includer.

Here are Kayla’s takeaways from that day and med school interviews for those who might be on the same journey.

Also, the Souvenir of the day:
