“Let today be a day where you take nothing for granted. For life is fleeting, fragile and precious and can change on a whim.”
Jackson Kiddard
Wow. Artos exceeds expectations. We entered the industrial building at 7 am on a Wednesday expecting an interior to match the exterior, but were happily met by the warm brown of the wood and the homey red of the walls. Add plants, local college flags and an open mic night poster and, well, we are home. It is a bit small inside but they fill the space with numerous tables, chairs and a long communal table. There are tables outside as well, but does 7 am say sit outside? I think not.
We found a menu on a table and ordered a nitro cold brew with mint & a slash of almond milk ($3.25 for a 12 oz, great price!) and an almond milk latte with mint ($4.5 for a 16 oz respectively). Both were delicious (although the nitro did have ice in it which watered it down a bit as it melted) and we will not apologize for our love of mint. Oh and don’t forget one of their pastries to go with your coffee, we definitely did not. They only have a few options; the orange-cranberry scone we shared hit the spot with our coffee (after finding the table of plastic straws, cutlery, napkins), but was a tad dry.
We sat down and noticed the Jackson Kiddard quote mentioned above on a sign. It is a nice reminder that also shows the heart of the place. We plugged our computers in the outlets (mostly at the end tables or benches) and the wifi password was “ilovecoffee” if you want to give it a try. If you run cold, be sure to grab a jacket (this also helps if you are sitting at the communal table as it is just a bit tall for the chairs and creates an awkward angle for the arms while typing). If you do not want to come in, there is an online order and pick up situation which is convenient, but beware of the limited parking lot and busy road adjacent to it. There is also a fridge full of grab and go food options which can be good in a hurry (which we too often find ourselves in).
We also had to attach the Jackson Kiddard quote as is touched our souls in a way we all need.
