Emma Rue’s just opened up in downtown Spokane. It is a chic stop we found on a bitterly cold January Monday where they serve coffee, cocktails and carefully selected desserts.
We’ve been to countless coffee shops at this point, but nothing like Emma Rue’s. It’s fresh and hip, yet a warm coffeeshop-meets-bar combo you don’t ever want to leave (and why would you if you can finish that cappuccino and move to a red wine all in one place).

We walked in, absorbing the celestial vibes, giddy to try their offerings. After a usual whispered meeting more-like-a-spy-rendezvous to pick a pastry (what we take it very seriously 🤷🏼♀️), we decided on a pomegranate orange Madeleine with white chocolate shavings. We added two cappuccinos, of course, with oat milk (all that was offered to us was whole and oat milk, so we aren’t sure if they have other options but there was no extra charge). They were each $4.29 and the pictured madeleine was $3. We noticed they were a little on the pricier side, but they are new and gourmet. The barista and all staff serving us were more than welcoming.

Sitting down at a high table by the window, we finally had a chance to take in the place. It has a beautiful ambiance with forest green walls covered by inspiring feminine art with a celestial feel. It is finished by lush pink chairs and touches of gold. There are many seating options: the high tables we sat at, low tables, a bar and couch chairs. It would also not be a bad place to study because it has wi-fi and is a nice temperature.

The dry cappuccinos were bold and had a slightly bitter dark chocolate flavor and the madeleine was light and spongy with the perfect amount of sweet. Both were served on lovely white tableware. Currently, they offer pastries, cold plates and espresso as well as non-alcoholic and alcoholic cocktails. They will soon also add hot plates after 3 pm. If you stay later, it transitions into a cool bar in the evening hours.
