Light, Calm and Quaint Coffee Stop in Arlington

Good morning (or afternoon),

We can’t wait to share with you the full scoop about a coffeeshop called Sweet Science in Arlington, Virginia. This quaint jem is nestled into a brick building with other shops and is hard to find, with very little in ways of a sign. Basically, it is a place that you only know if you know. Know what I mean?

I came on a Saturday morning. It was a perfect stop on a slow day. I parked on Fairfax drive (free for 2 hours on weekdays) and walked across. Otherwise, there is parking all around it, but most of it has meters.

It is bigger than the pictures online make it out to be, but still a smaller space. There are two small tables, one larger table and one lone chair I found my way to. The aesthetic is clean and calm with notes of white and green. My favorite piece of decor is the snoopy pictures (see image below).

I entered and spent forever trying to decide what I want (everything of course, so its hard to narrow it down). I also perused the menu (on the wall and laminated ones available). They have the usual coffee choices (cold brew, drip, latte) with prices slightly above usual. They also have matcha and chai tea lattes for the tea drinkers.

In addition to the drinks, they have a smattering of pastries, including cookies, muffins, biscotti, croissants, and homemade pop tarts. They also offer oatmeal, a parfait and a breakfast sandwich. I added a bagel with apple butter to my order and nestled into my hip chair by the window. Together, my coffee + bagel + tip + tax were $10. The barista I chatted to when I ordered was very sweet and welcoming.

I opened my computer to start the day and appreciated the free wifi (password: black coffee). I also noted how it is a good, calm and quiet place to study. Nevertheless, it is small so I didn’t stay too long.
