Essential Items for Med & Law School

In this post, I will break down the most essential items for law and med school, and why they are important. Yes, a lot of them are basic, but vitally important. 

• Backpack: yes, a backpack; may be obvious or not, but do not attempt to have the “side attached cute satchel back” unless you have like one book. We did and then our parents needed to send our two-strap backpacks across country because the books are heavy. Kayla and I have ones that are ancient but here is a comparable style: https://amzn.to/3w7eGTP.
• Pens/paper/pencils: alright, basic essentials here, but you go through a lot. I suggest pick your favs and get a number of them. 
• Highlighters: veryyyy important if you highlight in books like me. I never used highlighters before law school but they have become an essential part of reading. Kayla and I have both used these and love them: https://amzn.to/3pqJjjf.
• Business casual clothes: this is the dress code of most law and med schools (Kayla’s is business professional and Kim’s is business casual). Think business clothes minus the blazer. If you want a full break down, see our post about professional wear. 
• Notebooks/binders: We both take notes online but still need a few of these for the off-handed day our computers die, we want to outline on paper, etc. Our favorite notebook is this five subject Five Star (find it here https://amzn.to/3QGTwnx).
• A platform to take notes: I have taken all my notes on Google docs and highly recommend it. However, there is no wrong way to take notes and many people prefer things like Outlook. So, choose what one works for you & get it all ready for school!  
• Tupperware: kind of an odd one, but if you are going to pack food (very likely) this is essential. 
• Comfortable shoes: you will be walking all over the place, so don’t forgot a few pairs of comfy shoes for the days your feet have like 7 blisters. I love anything from the echo brand which is unbelievably comfortable.
